Please give whatever you can to OTB
We know that things are tough for us all at the moment as a result of the Covid-19 crisis. For Outside the Box (OTB) and our members (young people and adults with learning disabilities) the closure of the café and other OTB services is particularly difficult. We are working hard to continue to support them as well as to deal with the longer-term challenges for our charity.
Our new OTB Connections Service is helping people with learning disabilities to stay connected, supported and stimulated during the time they need to remain at home. Keeping up members’ spirits, learning and social links, we are providing a rich mix of activities and support including virtual group sessions, activity packs, creative projects, online workshops, 1-2-1 support at home and lots
more.  Uncertain times are facing us in the months ahead and we don’t know yet when OTB will be able to fully reopen. We are determined to bring OTB back as a thriving community café and leading source of support for members. However, in the absence of any customer income we need all the help we can get to achieve this. That is why we are asking for your help. Donations of
any size,‘lockdown fundraising’ activities or other offers of support are greatly appreciated!

Please clink here to donate to the OTB C19 Crisis Fund
Don’t forget if you are UK taxpayer to tick the Gift Aid box...this means that for example a donation of £50 will be worth £62.50 to OTB at no extra cost to you.

We wish you all well and thank you for your support.

Due to the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak unfortunately we have had to make the difficult but necessary decision to close OTB Choices and OTB café  until further notice.

Carers and Companions, run by local charity Ilkley Community Enterprise Ltd, is delivering much needed care and support to the local community as the coronavirus crisis continues. To help with this, the charity is running a local recruitment drive to expand its team of Community Carers.

Carers and Companions is looking to recruit caring and compassionate people, with a full driving licence, who want to help support vulnerable people in Ilkley and surrounding areas. Full training will be provided and the charity offers excellent rates of pay and good career development opportunities. In addition, the charity has expanded the support that it is offering to people with learning and other disabilities who are having to stay at home.

We have expanded our services to include home-based, one-to-one service delivery that will provide bespoke support to clients, including those who are members at Outside the Box, alongside some respite for parents and carers.

Anyone interested in the job opportunities at the charity or wanting to discuss getting high quality and safe care and support for their loved ones please contact Carers and Companions on 01943 609484 or email"

Great feedback

We have recently been asking our members, their parents/carers as well as our customers what they think about OTB and we are delighted with what we have heard. You clearly think we are doing a great job! Examples of what you told us are on display in the café. You also gave us some great suggestions on things we can improve and fantastic new ideas: we are busy getting to work on these!

Ilkley Business Awards 2016
Winner of Hospitality Business of the year! On Friday 12th February, Outside the Box won the Hospitality Business of the Year Award 2016 at the Ilkley Business Awards. This is a fantastic recognition of all the work and contributions of our staff, volunteers, members, customers and other supporters. I, together with my colleague Trustees of the charity, would like to express our congratulations and thanks to you for helping us to secure such a great public recognition of the cafe. The fact that we are not yet 3 years old and given the level of hospitality sector competition here in Ilkley make this an especially impressive achievement. Well done and thank you to all!
